Features of the Volkswagen Passat Interior

March 12th, 2021 by

The Volkswagen Passat is back in 2021 to compete in the strong mid-sized sedan market. After a substantial redesign for its 2020 model, VW has introduced a few design updates for 2021 to keep the Passat looking fresh. When it comes to the interior of the vehicle, there’s also a lot to get excited about, especially if your top priorities are comfort and reliability.

Seating

The 2021 BW Passat offers comfortable seating for five people. The V-Tex leatherette seat coverings will provide passengers with a touch of luxury. For extra comfort up front, the Passat’s front seats can be heated. This will give you and your passengers a better experience while you’re driving in low temperatures.

Whether you’re sitting in the front or rear rows, the Passat has more than adequate leg room for adult passengers. In the front seats, you can take advantage of 38.3 inches of head room, over 42 inches of leg room, and 56.9 inches of shoulder room. The measurements for the rear row of seating are also well-suited to adult or child passengers, with 37 inches of head room, 39.1 inches of leg room, and 57 inches of shoulder room. With these dimensions, the Passat is an ideal car for a small family.

Another benefit for rear-row passengers is the Passat’s back doors, which open wide and make it easy for passengers to get into the sedan. This will also prove a major plus point for parents when they’re installing child seats, or taking their kids in or out of the vehicle.

Cargo Storage

Behind the Passat’s rear row of seats, you’ll have 15.9 cubic feet of storage capacity. This should prove adequate for all of your daily needs, whether it’s transporting your groceries home or taking your kids to school with their bags. For extra storage room, you can fold down the back seats to squeeze in suitcases or any other larger items. The rear seats have a 60-40 split folding mechanism.

The Passat also has several smaller storage spaces in the doors and the central console. These are ideal for smaller items you want to keep close by, such as phones, electronic devices, and books. Front-seat passengers will also benefit from two cupholders.

Infotainment and Technology

The standard infotainment system in the 2021 Passat is equipped with a 6.3-inch screen. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and comes with a three-month trial for Sirius XM radio. The Passat uses wireless connectivity to link up with your phones but also offers USB ports so you can keep your devices charged while you’re on the go.

If you opt for the Passat’s top-of-the-line SEL trim, you can increase the size of the infotainment screen to 8 inches. The SEL trim also includes additional features, such as built-in navigation and a six-month trial to VW’s Car-Net, which allows you to locate your vehicle and call for assistance.

The standard analog instrument cluster is easy to use. If you want an upgrade, you can add a 10.3-inch digital screen to modernize your experience. In addition, the Passat is also fitted with a nine-speaker Fender sound system, which will give you high-quality performance whether you’re listening to your favorite music or radio show.

Internal Comfort

The Passat is equipped with a dual-zone air conditioning system to ensure that you and your passengers are kept at a comfortable temperature. You can adjust the automatic temperature control to maintain the perfect balance between warmth and cool air to keep everyone happy.

Driving and Parking

When you’re driving, you’ll benefit from good front visibility in the Passat. All trim levels are equipped with front and rear parking sensors, which will make it easier to maneuver into tight spots. If you’d like additional parking assistance, there’s an option to add automated parking, which can judge the size of a parking spot and help maneuver your VW into it.

Driver Assistance

You can enjoy a range of driver assistance features with your Passat. For starters, a forward-collision warning system, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and cross-traffic alert are available as standard features.

If you upgrade to one of the higher trims, you can take advantage of advanced safety features. You’ll also get access to adaptive cruise control for when you’re on the highway. Other features of the Passat that will improve your driving experience include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, which is helpful if other drivers forget to dim their lights as they approach you. The rain-sensing wipers, which start automatically when it rains, also improve your driving conditions in the event of a sudden downpour.

Trims

The Passat’s trims offer you the chance to add additional comforts and features to your interior. The three trims you can choose from with the 2021 model are S, SE, and R-Line.

Even the base-level trim comes with an electrically-operated backrest on the driver’s seat. Most trims offer you the option of adding a 14-way power-adjustable driver’s seat for extra comfort and convenience. You can also select the color of your vehicle’s interior from four choices: Mauro brown, Shetland beige and black, Shetland beige, and titan black.
